Utopia, hell & utopia again 理想国再现

Wang Lee Hom — young, handsome, sociable, frank and nice. Seems too perfect to be true. But the young pop star who has captured the hearts of millions is searching for utopia.
王力宏—年轻、俊帅、好交际、真诚、温和有礼—完美得不近真实。但这位年纪轻轻却已掳获百万人心的流行歌手，正在寻求自己的理想国度。

The 24-year-old American Chinese singer-songwriter Wang Lee Hom seldom performs with instruments. But the truth is he can play piano, guitar, drum set, bass guitar and violin.
24歳美籍华人的王力宏既是歌手也是词曲创作人，虽然比较少机会表演乐器，但他精通钢琴、吉他、鼓、贝斯以及小提琴。

He can also speak English, Mandarin, French, and some Cantonese.
他也能说英语、国语、法语以及一些粤语。

At the moment, Lee Hom is a heartthrob of millions in Asia.
而同时，力宏是亚洲百万歌迷的理想情人。

However, asked whether he had any happy moments recently, he paused and said,　“My brother's wedding, 2 years ago.” He seems not very happy now.
当记者问及，最近是否有任何开心的事，他停顿了一下，然后回答：「两年前，我哥哥的婚礼。」但他现在似乎不很开心。


UTOPIA 理想国

His goal is to produce music that can inspire young people. “My language is my music,"　said he.
他的目标在做出能让年轻人获得启发的音乐。力宏表示：「我的音乐就是我的语言。」

Apart from music, memories of his school days console him.
除了音乐之外，有他就学时期的回忆安慰着他。

Lee Hom graduated from Williams College in Williamstown,Massachusetts, in the U.S.
力宏毕业于美国麻州威廉斯镇的威廉斯学院。

“This is a utopia，”　said Lee Hom with a charismatic smile.
他带着迷人的微笑说道：「那是一个桃花源！」

His college is in the middle of a valley where there are almost no cars.
他的学校坐落在一个几乎没有任何车辆的山谷中央。

There he enjoyed and treasured long-lasting friendships.“There is no discrimination,” said he.
在那里他享受、珍惜着恒久的友谊。他表示：「那里没有任何歧视。」

“Gays, lesbians, blacks, Asians, whites can be real good friends.“The place is so small. Everybody knows each other.”
「男同志、女同志、黑人、亚洲人、白人，大家都可以是很好的朋友。」「那里地方很小，所以大家彼此都认识。」

That is really a good place compared with the place he is at now.“I am close to hell,” he said.
相较于他目前所处的地方，那简直是天堂。力宏说：「我现在的生活很靠近地狱！」


HELL 地狱


Artists are afraid of news media now. Lee Hom is no exception, especially when facing the local news media.
现在的演艺人员很怕媒体，力宏也不例外，尤其当他面对本地媒体的时候。

His rise to fame does not help him face up to the media, though he does not want to do so, either — no matter with paparazzi, reporters or the series of award presentation ceremonies, to name a few.
名气的窜升并未帮助他在媒体前抬头挺胸，虽然自己也并不想这么做，但不论在面对狗仔队、记者、甚至是颁奖典礼上，力宏始终保持低调的姿态。

Last Christmas, when he got a goodbye hug from one of his schoolmates whom he had not seen for awhile, a reporter caught that moment and made up a story about this　“love affair”.
去年圣诞节，当他许久不见的一位学校同学给他一个临别拥抱时，刚好被一位记者逮到这个镜头，然后捏造了一篇「情事」的报导。

And once, after attending an awards ceremony, he just burst out, “I was so bored! I did not like going.”
有一次力宏出席颁奖礼的时候，突然大呼：「我觉得很无趣，不想再继续了！」

But he had to. Said he, “The media is so powerful.” There is more.
但他还是必须走下去！他表示：「媒体的力量很强大！」故事还没完哩。

Last October, a Taiwanese news agency asked if he was gay, a rumour that was sweeping around corners at that time. He denied it angrily.
去年十月，关于他是同志的传闻甚嚣尘上，当台湾一家媒体问力宏他是不是ｇａｙ，他很生气的否认。

In his eyes, the media are as funny as they were 6 years ago, when he released his first album.
在力宏眼中，媒体和六年前他推出首张专辑时一样可笑。

“I was nicknamed something like　‘new good boy’　in the first album. Then the　‘high quality idol’　came next,”　said he.
「我在第一张专辑里被称为『新好男孩』，然后又是『优质偶像』。」

He said these names were all interesting, but he did not like any of them.
这些称号都很有趣，但是他都不喜欢。

Discontented, he started posting his journals weekly on the web site of Sony Music Taiwan, so as to make himself clear to others.
由于不满于现势，他开始在台湾新力的网站上公布每周亲手写的周记．好让其它人能更了解自己。

“I can tell my fans all my feelings without misinterpretation,” said he.
他指出：「我可以不必透过任何误解扭曲的报导，直接告诉歌迷我的想法。」

As a public figure, Lee Hom has many restrictions. But he is satisfied with himself.
身为公众人物，力宏有很多拘束，但他对自己感到满意。

“I have many musician friends behind the screen. They always say that I am good and they envy me so much,” said he. “The grass is greener at the other side. I am really lucky already.”
「我有很多身居荧光幕后的音乐人朋友，他们总是说他们很羡慕我」，他表示，「别人家的草地总是比较绿，换个角度想，我已经是个很幸运的人。」


UTOPIA AGAIN 理想国再现

“In the meantime, I'm going back to New York, to the life I miss so much — never going to bed, but sleeping when sleep overtakes me in front of my computer, or when I have a guitar in my arms.＂
「同时，我就要回纽约去了，回到我思念很久的生活—不睡觉、一直到累到不行时就趴在计算机前睡的生活，或者是怀抱吉他入睡的日子！」

“This is the life that I have been away from for the last 6 months, and it's high time to go back. Wish me luck and inspiration, and I'll see you next time with a brand new album filled with new sounds, new beats, and new adventures.”　Words from Lee Hom's journal No. 30.
「这就是我已经六个月没过的生活，而现在该是回去的时候了。给我好运和灵感的祝福，下次再见到大家，我会带来充满新声音、新节拍、新冒险的全新大碟。」这些是力宏在他第３０篇周记上的文字。

Asked what he would do on his next holiday, he replied immediately, “I will go to Hawaii and play on the beach with my friends.
“To swim, to eat, and to have fun,”　said he.
记者问力宏，他预计在下次度假时做些什么？他很快地回答：「我会去夏威夷，在海滩上和朋友一起玩乐！」
「游泳、大吃美食、尽情享乐。」

At this time he probably is back in his studio, working day and night on his songs, doing his mixing, playing his instruments.
此刻，他也许已经回到录音室，正日以继夜地写歌、混音、弹奏乐器。

Time slips away with no awareness of it in his mind.There is no need to shave, to shower, to wear make-up or to smile, in the absense of flashes.
时间在他心里悄悄地流逝。没有镁光灯的日子，不需要刮胡子、洗澡、化妆或微笑。

The studio, or Hawaii, or maybe freedom, actually, is his utopia.
录音室、夏威夷…或许自由才是他心中真正的理想国！
